Lost in the Rain — A Poem

Teardrops
Like glistening memories
Of soft moments
And shared dreams
Fall down toward mother earth

Who can move them once they
Merge with the wet memories
Falling from the clouds?

No one.

They are inseparable, the
Soft, salty moments on my face
And the warm, spring moments
Descending from heaven

Water soon to be flowers
Flowers soon to bloom
And nourish life
Yet unborn

And still they sting
These gems on my cheeks
Are heavy
They bite
They cut

They are beautiful
Even though they hurt
For something to hurt so much
It must have been so lovely

Diamonds of song, and dance
Of promises made
And broken
Cascade out of me

Becoming one with the whole
Becoming lost in the rain
